As Mosheh (Moses) navigated his assignment he had to overcome his own impatiencethat may have been further enhanced by the stress of the environment- in order to actually follow through fully on what was already established. The Creator told him exactly what The King of Mitzrayim would do. But going throug the ordeal - the anguished spirit and the environment of cruel bondage quickly influenced Mosheh to forget for a moment - what he was told would happen. He knew that Pharaoh's heart would be hardened and he knew he would continue to reject Mosheh's requests despite the plagues he would be subjected to. Despite knowing what wojuld happen beforehand - Mosheh cries to The Eternal. And is still shocked when the King of Mitzrayim resists to yield - almosts as we today cry out at what our oppresor does to us - despite our current condition of being a byword and subject of oppression by a non-people being prophesied and established.
We too must learn - just as our father Mosheh learned, that sometimes the hardest part of a mission is maintaining control over one's emotions while carrying through with the victorious assignment. When you know you should win the game versus a less talented opponent we tend to worry about getting in our own way - knowing that the only way we can lose is if we forget our assignment. They will never beat us. We can only beat ourselves.
Ultimately we learn that this narrative in the text is not only about the liberation of Am YisraEL (The People of YisraEL), but also about the refinement of Mosheh. Just as today - the liberation of our people is the goal - but in order to achieve the inevitable we as individuals must rise to the occasion and not lose sight of the task at hand before us. We must avoid being influenced by the environment that surrounds us or the internal shortcomings that hinder us. We must keep our eyes on the prize and avoid distractions on our journey. For victory is certain!
Peace be to you. Peace be to your house. And peace be unto all that is yours! Shalom Shalom!
