מִקֹּצֶר רוּחַ
The ivriyth (hebrew) term mikwotzir pulls from a root that refers to a harvesting action. Rather, it's what wheat appears as after it's been thrashed or what one feels after doing the hard protracted physical labor associated with gathering in and Reaping a harvest . What each scenario points out is a product that is not at its full strength. Its energy is drained. Its power is depleted.
Anguish is used in some translations but in some other versions we may see the term translated alternatively as either grieved, shortness, or impatience, which all accurately describe the condition the writer was hoping to convey.
The condition of a spirit that h as been depleted is one that has moved i to a ststr of complacency. Its no longer operating according to origobal design. Whatever has happened in that person's life or the circumstances of his envirobment has blocked at the moment from realization of the promise. And because they've lost sight of that vision they operate from a place of hopelessness.
With nothing to look forward to but more anguish they become "short" of temper, or inpatient (rather than longsuffering). They become desperate and even comfortable in their wretchedness. Rather than building relationships they look only to foster connections with others that they can in turn exploit for their own personal gain. They cheat and they decieve because due either to the depletion or the circumstances caused by the trauma of depletion they cannot bring themselves to commit to the long gane. Their involvement is only for a second- only a device used to capitalize off of the genuine desire of others.
This was the state of our people under the new king, and it was exactly his intent. He wanted to use their power, but could only do so if their energy was diverted away from The Creator and towards his rulership.
Looking closely at the ways of this new king in dealing "wisely" with our ancestors, Part 2 will explore the stragies our adversaries, even in these times, use to bring about our depleted spirit.
Peace be to you. Peace be to your house. And peace be unto all that is yours! Shalom Shalom!
